Access to the Lufthansa Lounges at JFK Terminal 1 are based on class of service and/or airline status.
The Lufthansa Lounge at JFk Terminal 1 is actually 3 lounges: a Business Lounge, a Senator Lounge and a First Class Lounge.
The Business Class lounge is on the the terminal level. Access to this lounge is available to business class passengers on any Star Alliance airline and certain premium economy and other passengers.

The Senator Lounge is one floor up from the Business Lounge. Access to this lounge is reserved for Lufthansa Honors Circle, Senator and Star Alliance Gold status holders.
Generally speaking Senator Lounges are a cut above Business Lounges in terms of food and drinks. But Business Lounges are still pretty nice.
The First Class Lounge is one floor up from the Senator lounge. The only way to get into this lounge is with a first class boarding pass for a Lufthansa or SWISS flight arriving/departing on the same day or with Lufthansa HON status.
Lufthansa Lounges JFK Terminal 1 Locations
The Lufthansa Lounges are located immediately (and I mean immediately) after JFK Terminal 1 security to the left.
Lufthansa Senator Lounge JFK Terminal 1
Our Brussels Airlines flight departed JFK around 6:30 pm, so we arrived at JFK around 4:30 pm.
Before going to the Lufthansa lounge we visited the Priority Pass lounge at JFK Terminal 1. But that lounge didn’t have a lot of food selections so we made our way to the Lufthansa lounge. It’s nice to have choices!
We were flying in business class on Brussels Airlines which qualified us for the Business Lounge. But our Star Alliance Gold status qualified us for the higher level Senator Lounge.
Seating Areas in the JFK Terminal 1 Senator Lounge
There is plenty of seating in the Lufthansa Senator Lounge at JFK Terminal 1.
And the views from the seating area to the tarmac outside are awesome.
Food
There are plenty of food and snack selections at the Lufthansa Senator Lounge JFK Terminal 1. Enough that you can make a meal of it…even a travel keto diet friendly meal! And there is plenty to snack on.
Selections included beef stew, various salads from a salad bar, pearl barley, fingerling potatoes, mix vegetables, pasta with tomato and basil sauce as well as cheese, cookies and snacks.
Beverages and Bar in KAL Lounge JFK
Soft Drinks
A variety of self-serve coffee, teah, juices and soft drinks are on offer. And I always appreciate fountain soda dispensers in airport lounges!
Alcohol Lufthansa JFK Senator Lounge
The alcohol in the Lufthansa JFK Terminal 1 Senator Lounge is served at the bar.
There are a selection of cocktails available. Just order from the bartender and he’ll whip one right up for you!
And the wine selections are also varied and plentiful including several reds and whites to choose from as well as sparkling wine.
Facilities
There are two shower rooms in this Lufthansa Senator Lounge.
The procedure to use them is to place your name on a signup sheet and make yourself known to the attendant. When it’s your turn the attendant will fetch you and get your set up.
The showers are first come first serve regardless of boarding times.
Bottom Line – Lufthansa Senator Lounge JFK Terminal 1
Senator Lounges are consistently a cut above most airline airport lounges. They have good food selections, a variety of drinks and cocktails and facilities like showers and clean bathrooms.
Access to Senator Lounges is one of the best benefits of Star Alliance Gold status.
